Teen Cuisine

Teen Cuisine is a cooking and nutrition education program for teens grades 6-12. This curriculum was developed by Virginia Tech and Virginia Cooperative Extension. In Sedgwick County, Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) can implement this curriculum in any middle school that has at least 50% of their student population receiving free or reduced lunch.

Students will learn:

  • Basic nutrition information including MyPlate guidelines and how to read nutrition labels.
  • Food safety and food preparation skills including proper cleaning and sanitization, knife safety, and how to read recipes.
  • Basic cooking skills that reinforced by making a recipe in every lesson.
  • The importance of being physical active every day.

Are you an educator or after school program coordinator interested in bringing Teen Cuisine to your school? Please contact our EFNEP Agent by phone or email for more information.
